ITS Hamilton Inc. has taken the initiative and managed to develop a self-sufficient interpretation program, which not only meets the needs of the service-providing agencies but also is responsive to needs of the communities and to further develop interpretation services in the area.
The program had attracted enough business and contracts to become self-sufficient.
As a result, we developed a business plan for the program based on principles of quality, reliability, objectivity, confidentiality, availability, accessibility and affordability.
The focus of the plan was recruitment and training of the interpreters, marketing and introducing the program to service providers and communities as a professional service, developing communication strategies with service providers and communities.
We have seen the positive effect this service has had on the lives of many immigrants and refugees who are able to lead independent lives, not having to depend on an English-speaking relative or friend to be part of their decisions.
We generally cover a geographic area from Hamilton, Burlington, St. Catharine, Niagara Falls, Oakville to Kitchener, London, Brantford, Toronto and Milton.
We have a team of over 430 trained interpreters and we provide interpretation services in over 85 languages through well-trained interpreters and translators.
